Q1...In what year did your Taekwondo journey begin ?
I began my training on the 20th March 1989.
Q2...What prompted you to start ?
The need for Self-Defence and a need for a physical activity during my university days.
Q3...What have been the main highlights during your career as an instructor ?
Training and developing students and seeing them grade successfully to black belt. Seeing that the original style of TKD still thrives in WSTA.
Q4...Do you have a favourite technique ?
Any well executed technique is my favourite at that moment in time!
Q5...Do you have any advice for beginner students / new members ?
Be prepared to train hard and always push yourself.

Instructor Robert Haskins has studied the art of Taekwondo since the late 1980’s, Robert has taught the art to womens self defence groups, security officers, bodyguards and military personel.
Robert holds an Honours degree in science, he continues to improve his knowledge in the field of medicine and is also a qualified and licensed Security Office/Crowd Controller and Private Investigator.
Robert believes that without discipline freedom is meaningless and he has always taught his students to follow what is right and will always lead by example in this regard.
Robert was recently appointed as Regional Advisor for the North Queensland area. Robert would welcome the opportunity to discuss the future options of any instructor within the Nth QLD area who is looking to further advance their career and knowledge in the art of Shim Jang Taekwondo.
Regional Advisor Robert really looks forward to an exciting future assisting Master Hicks, Master Turner and Regional Instructor Shane Backhouse in the future expansion of Shim Jang Taekwondo throughout the North Queensland area.
Robert takes his motivation from seeing our members grow and reach their potential both in life and in the art of Shim Jang Taekwondo.
