Passing of a Great man

06 November 12

A message from;  Master Hicks

Hi everyone,

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you all of the passing of Senior Regional Instructor Shane Backhouse 4th Degree Black Belt.

Shane passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday 4th November 2012 after a short illness and our condolences and well wishes go out to his family on their tragic loss, Senior Instructor Shane was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Shane was also a true martial artist, he was a strong and courageous instructor that cared greatly about his students; Shane's knowledge, inspiration, respect, loyalty, honesty and his integrity will be a great loss not just to our academy but to society in general.

On a personal level I came to know Shane very well over the past few years and his passing has saddened me greatly, he was a larger than life character who was honest to a fault and extremely proud of his involvement with our academy. I will really miss Shane and his quirky sense of humour and his presence & enthiusiasm will be greatly missed at our North QLD Gradings.

Shane's passing represents a great loss to me and all WSTA instructors and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this sad & difficult time.

I am very proud to have known Shane, I believe that in our lives we can only ever hope to achieve two important things and that is to Live Respected and to Die Regretted and Senior Instructor Shane was deffinately a man who achieved them both.

Rest in Peace Shane......
